Faith, Yes I Have it!

Faith is a central component in our lives. For example, you go to a doctor whose name you cannot pronounce and whose degrees you have never verified. He gives you a prescription you cannot read. You take it to a pharmacist you have never seen before. He gives you a chemical compound you do not understand. Then you go home and take the pill according to the instructions on the bottle. All of this is done in trusting, sincere faith!

There are four things we must do as believers to successfully show our faith.

1. Realize the Value of Faith: Faith can move mountains. It is the one spiritual commodity that without it you cannot please God. Matthew 17:20 states, “And Jesus said unto them, …verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” And Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “…without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

2. Recognize the Vision of Faith: We must keep a positive outlook and a continuous up-look. Believe for financial, physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Jesus asked on more than one occasion if the person wanting a miracle believed, as in Matthew 9:28-29, “And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.”

3. Radiate the Virtues of Faith: The virtues of faith include Salvation, Serenity, Strength, Security, and Service. The fruit of the Spirit that we are to bare includes faith. Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

4. Rejoice in the Victory of Faith: Rejoicing over victories of faith strengthens our faith. Past victories are stored in our heart and memory like a portfolio we can refer to in our weak moments. Sharing our victories with others inspires and increases their faith. Faith is contagious; It rubs off on others like a good belly laugh.

Do I have this faith you speak of you might ask?  If you turn on a light without knowing about electricity, if you drive up to 70 miles an hour without knowing anything about a hydraulic brake system, if you go into multi-floored buildings without understanding architecture, and if you cross bridges spanning rivers and gorges without the knowledge of engineering, then you have your answer.  Yes, you have great faith! Why can you blindly do these things? Because your history has shown you that these things can be trusted.

Now go out today and let your history with God relieve you of the doubt and fear of your situation. Has He ever let you down or forsaken you? NO! Enjoy the measure of faith you’ve been given and let it lighten your day. Romans 12:3, “…God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
